X-Men: First Class Trailer and Everything Else You Need to Know
And so continues my constant posting of superhero news.  In case you were completely unaware, the X-Men movie franchise is still moving forward.  No, its not being rebooted nor are we getting another offshoot, but instead we are getting a prequel.  Its a great idea really.  We always hear about Professor X and Magneto being friends and starting the X-Men together, but we rarely get to actually see it....until now.  Set in the 60's, First Class shows us the creation of the X-Men, accompanied by the fall of Magneto.  This might be the closest we get to the Magneto film that has been rumored for years.  The good news is the trailer shows promise:

Personally I don't think its the best edited trailer.  It seems a little unfocused and I wonder how well the music fits.  Still, the movie itself looks good or at least a lot better than that awful picture that was leaked a few weeks back.  In case you missed the picture (which you should consider yourself lucky), it was a perfect representation of bad photo-shopping.  Matthew Vaughn (the films director) has publicly stated that he did not release that picture and he was appalled and embarrassed by it.  If you want to know how adamant he was, go and read his official statement.  Its fill with many expletives to illustrate his passion.

In case you don't know who Matthew Vaughn is, he was also the director of Layer Cake, Stardust, and the recent Kick-Ass, all of which were very well made (I have a very special love for Stardust).  He is also the man who almost directed X-Men 3 (and probably should have directed X-Men 3).  Now he brings us this film.  It seems quite a bit of focus will be placed on the relationship between Magneto and Xavier which should provide a great dynamic.  Magneto is being played by Michael Fassbender of 300 and Centurion fame (he would be the "fight in the shade" guy).  Xavier is being played by the recognizable James McAvoy.  Both are very talented and it will be a true joy to see a less fragile Magneto.  Also, I'd like to say his costume seems to be much more faithful to the comics.  As much as I loved Ian McKellan as Magneto, I also thought his costume (particularly that tiny helmet) to look kind of dumb.

I do really hope this movie turns out well.  I have always loved the X-Men franchise and I really enjoyed the first two films.  Kevin Bacon plains the villain which should be fun.  Bacon is a talented actor and it will be interesting to see him as the leader of the mysterious Hellfire Club (aka the enemy in the film since Magneto's Brotherhood doesn't exist).  In the future I may do a more informative post.  In the mean time, feel free to comment on your feelings towards the film.
